Part I
Sleeping Beauty. Music by P.I. Tchaikovsky, Choreography M. Petipa.
Redaction and adaptation for children by Egle Spokaite.
The idea of this performance is to introduce our students and audience to the classical ballet company structure. The Sleeping Beauty was born in Mariinsky Theatre (Saint Petersburg, Russia) in the 19th century and is perfectly suited for this purpose.
Leading fairy roles are created by our Advanced Level students. Coryphée and Demi-Soloist parts are created by Intermediate II level students. Corps de Ballet parts are performed by our Intermediate I Level students. The classical Ballets of the time typically had children’s parts, performed by Imperial Ballet School students. In our performance, those roles are carried out by Elementary, Pre-primary, Primary, and Creative Ballet Level students. Mime artists were also a part of the ballet performances, they acted parts of Kings, Queens, Knights, etc. Our performance also has the role of the Queen, acted by Advanced Level student.
School year-end recital is a wonderful opportunity for our students to not only showcase their dancing but also get introduced to the classical ballet structure and history.
Part II
